Engr. Owojaiye, the Founder and Convener of the Reset Nigeria Group, has predicted a narrow victory for Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Edo State gubernatorial election scheduled for tomorrow, September 21, 2024.
In a statement released to Truth Live News, Owojaiye shared his forecast, which was based on data curated from across the 17 local government areas of Edo State. According to the projection, the results are expected to be as follows:
– Asue Ighodalo (PDP): 48%
– Monday Okpebholo (APC): 40%
– Olumide Akpata (LP): 10%
– Azemhe Azena (NNPP): 2%
Owojaiye explained that his prediction is grounded in several factors, including the candidates’ goodwill, their campaign manifestos, party unity, the current economic challenges, and rural appeal.
He further suggested that the election results might lead to a protracted legal battle, though he does not foresee the outcome being overturned in court. The Reset Nigeria Group, also known as “Candidate Over Party,” has earned a reputation for accurately predicting over 90% of previous Nigerian elections.
Owojaiye also warned of potential voter inducement, a heavy security presence, minimal clashes, and over-voting, particularly in Edo North. He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure the strict use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), as mandated by law.
In his closing remarks, Owojaiye called on all Edo citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the electoral process, emphasizing that the true test of democracy lies in respecting the will of the people. He expressed hope that the election will not only reflect the wishes of the electorate but also serve as a model for future democratic processes across Nigeria.
