Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, flagged off the construction of the 7-kilometer Kabusa to Takushara access road in the Abuja Municipal Area Council of the FCT.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the FCT Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to bringing governance closer to the grassroots to rekindle the people’s lost hope, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He stated that providing rural infrastructure in the FCT affirms that governance extends beyond the Abuja city centre into rural areas.

The Minister announced that the Kabusa-Takushara road, complete with streetlights, will be delivered within seven months, Truth Live News can report.

He added that the completed road would enhance agricultural activities and improve security in the nation’s capital.

Barr. Wike remarked, “What we are doing today is what the Renewed Hope Agenda is all about – giving hope back to our people. I’m sure the people of Kabusa and Takushara had lost hope that this road would ever be done. But this story is changing to the glory of God and through President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s leadership.”

He further stated, “Government is no longer concentrated in the city. The government has come back to the grassroots. When a government makes a promise, it must fulfil it.

“Mr. President has promised that all satellite towns will not be neglected. We will transform them into thriving cities with the necessary infrastructure.”

He assured, “This is not just about flagging off projects. In seven months, we will be back here to commission this road.”

“For the first time, roads in rural areas will have streetlights. This has never happened before.”

The Minister charged the contractors with completing the road project within the specified timeline and urged them to engage residents for employment opportunities.

Stressing the importance of education, the Minister directed that no student in the FCT should be made to leave school during hours to welcome VIPs. He expressed disappointment at the state of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS Kabusa), located along the road corridor, and ordered its immediate rehabilitation.

“This should be the last time students are brought out of school to line up for VIPs. We are doing what we are supposed to do, and I will not condone this anymore. Principals should ensure this does not happen again,” he warned.

He added, “This school will undergo immediate upgrading to ensure it meets the standards expected of a learning institution. When Mr. President visits and sees this as the current state of a school, I’ll be held accountable, and I intend to rectify this immediately.”

The Minister reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to delivering good governance, calling for the residents’ continued prayer and support. He remarked, “The government of Ahmed Tinubu will not fail you. I align myself with a government that keeps its promises and delivers results.”

Commending the efforts of the AMAC Chairman, Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, in advancing rural infrastructure, the Minister encouraged residents to support his administration.

In a goodwill message, Hon. Abdurrahman Ajiya, the House of Representatives member representing Abuja South of the FCT, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing Barr. Wike as Minister of the FCT, describing him as a blessing to the residents.

Mrs. Grace Adayilo, the FCTA Head of Service, lauded the Minister for fulfilling the community’s long-standing desire for infrastructure development and expressed hope for more such initiatives.

She stated, “The residents of this area have longed for this road for years. Posterity will not forget your contribution to improving their lives.”

Providing an overview of the project, the Acting Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda described the Kabusa-Takushara road as a 7-meter single-carriageway with shoulders and solar-powered streetlights to enhance security.

Engr. Naim Raffoul, Project Manager at M/s I.A.C Allied Technical Construction Company Ltd, pledged to adhere to the highest project execution standards.
