Adamu Garba, a prominent member of Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress, has advised Donald Trump that his efforts to thwart the proposed BRICS currency are misguided.
Trump recently reiterated his threat to impose 100% tariffs on BRICS nations if they create a rival to the US dollar.
Garba countered that Trump’s plan will only serve to further isolate the United States.
“President Trump’s tantrums against the BRICS currency are a waste of time. His planned action to impose tariffs for trading against the dollar will further isolate the United States,” Garba stated.
Garba stressed that the world has evolved beyond a unipolar society, where a single nation holds dominance.
“This is not the U.S. of the 1940s; this is 2025. The world has moved far beyond a unipolar society,” he noted.
The BRICS nations, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, are seeking to reduce their reliance on the US dollar.
This shift could potentially reshape global economic dynamics, with some experts predicting that a new BRICS currency could be introduced as early as 2025.
