Dubai Police Arrest Alleged Crime Figure Daniel Kinahan

Authorities in Dubai have arrested Daniel Kinahan over alleged involvement in organised criminal activity, according to multiple Irish media reports.

Police in the emirate confirmed the arrest of an Irish fugitive linked to an international crime group but did not officially name the suspect. The arrest reportedly took place earlier in the week following the submission of a judicial file by authorities from Ireland.

Irish outlets, including The Irish Times and state broadcaster RTÉ, identified the individual as Kinahan, a figure long associated with the Kinahan Organised Crime Group. The reported charges are said to be connected to a long-running gangland feud in Ireland.

In 2022, the United States Department of the Treasury designated Kinahan as one of the leaders of the criminal network and announced a $5 million reward for information leading to the arrest of key figures within the group. The agency described the organisation as a major international drug trafficking syndicate.

Authorities have previously alleged that the network used Dubai as a base for coordinating illicit activities across multiple countries.

Kinahan has consistently denied wrongdoing. A legal representative previously stated that he has no criminal convictions and rejected allegations linking him to organised crime.

Further details regarding potential charges or extradition proceedings have not yet been disclosed.
