NNPC Debunks Fraudulent Claims of Refinery Scrap, Equipment Sales

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has officially debunked reports suggesting it is disposing of refinery scrap materials, equipment, or components.

In a firm statement released on Friday, April 24, 2026, the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye (noted as Andy Odeh in some dispatches), clarified that no such auction or sale has been authorized for any of its facilities, including the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries.

The national oil company raised the alarm after discovering that scammers were posing as its representatives or agents to facilitate these fraudulent transactions.

These individuals have reportedly been misleading private firms and members of the public by issuing fake bids and tenders. The NNPC emphasized that it has not opened any “expressions of interest” or issued approvals for the sale of inventory from its warehouses.

To protect stakeholders, the NNPC advised the public to disregard any solicitations regarding the sale of refinery assets. The company maintained that any legitimate disposal of assets would follow a transparent, regulated process publicly announced through its official communication channels.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any person making these false claims to law enforcement authorities.
