A house of assembly aspirant, Onaghise Osaretin Daniel Ero, has said he has the capacity to team up with the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo to deliver on the 2.5 million votes promised President Bola Tinubu just as he promised to right the wrongs in the constituency.
He disclosed this while formally declaring his intention to contest for the Edo State House of Assembly, representing Oredo West Constituency.
Ero, while addressing a meeting of the party executives, stakeholders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Oredo Local Government secretariat, appealed for their support, prayers, and guidance ahead of the party’s primary election.
He noted that while several aspirants are eyeing the same position, his ambition is driven by a genuine desire to serve and secure the party’s ticket, because since inception of the nation’s democracy in 1999, the ward has never presented a representative at the state house of assembly.
The aspirant emphasized the critical role of party leaders and executives in determining who emerges as the party’s candidate, stressing the need for unity and collective backing.
He assured party faithful that if given the ticket, he would not disappoint the leadership, members of the APC, and the general public.
Highlighting his political and leadership experience, Ero pointed to his active involvement in student unionism and mainstream politics.
He disclosed that he had previously held several leadership positions, including roles in the Students’ Union Government and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), and had also contested for councillorship and the chairmanship of Oredo Local Government.
Ero further linked his ambition to the broader political goal of delivering electoral success for the party, particularly the projected 2.5 million votes for the president in the 2027 general elections.
He expressed confidence in his ability to mobilize grassroots support, especially among youths, to achieve this target if given the party’s ticket.
He also vowed to introduce innovative and impactful representation, moving beyond traditional constituency projects, which he said have not adequately addressed the needs of the people.
Ero concluded by urging party members to trust him with the mandate, promising to deliver effective representation and development to Oredo West Constituency.
