Parker Exits Burnley After Premier League Relegation

Burnley have confirmed that head coach Scott Parker has left the club by mutual consent following their relegation from the Premier League.

In a statement released on Thursday, the club said both parties had “mutually agreed that his time at Turf Moor would conclude” after just one season back in the top flight.

Parker, who guided Burnley to promotion in the 2024/25 season, endured a difficult campaign this term, managing only four league victories. The club’s relegation was confirmed on April 22 after a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City.

The 45-year-old, who previously managed Fulham, Bournemouth and Belgian side Club Brugge, was appointed in July 2024 on a three-year contract, replacing Vincent Kompany.

He oversaw an impressive promotion campaign, including a 31-match unbeaten run and 30 clean sheets, as Burnley secured an immediate return to the Premier League. However, the current season proved far more challenging, with the team conceding 68 goals in 34 matches—the highest in the league—and suffering early exits from both domestic cup competitions at the hands of lower-division sides.

“The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication and contribution,” the statement read, adding that he departs with “the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club.”

Parker described his time at the club as an “immense privilege,” saying it was the right moment for both sides to move in different directions.

“I reflect back with great pride on what we achieved, especially our unforgettable promotion season in 2024/25. It was a true honour to lead this team into the Premier League,” he said.

Assistant coach Mike Jackson will take charge of the team’s remaining four league matches, starting with Friday’s fixture against Leeds United, while the club begins its search for a new permanent head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
