As Nigerians are still celebrating the air strikes in Sokoto State, the United States Congressman, Riley Moore, has lauded President, Donald Trump, for the Christmas Day air strike that targeted terrorists camps in Sokoto.

In a post on his X, the US Congressman who was one of the people that raised an alarm a few months ago on alleged mass killing of Christians in Nigeria, averred that the Christmas day air strike by the US was the first step to ending the slaughter of Christians and the security crisis affecting all Nigerians.

His words: “President Trump has been clear that the killing of Christians in Nigeria must end. As I stated at the outset: Do not test President Trump‘s resolve in this matter. Tonight’s strike in coordination with the Nigerian government is just the first step to ending the slaughter of Christians and the security crisis affecting all Nigerians.”

Similarly, the US Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, also in an X post also warned that more military action would be taken against the terrorists operating and killing people in different parts of Nigeria.

He wrote: “The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end. The US Department of War is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight, on Christmas. More to come. Grateful for Nigerian government support and cooperation.”

Recall that last month, the Secretary of War had warned that the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria and anywhere must end immediately, stressing that the Department of War was preparing for action. “Either the Nigerian Government protect Christians, or we will kill the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” he maintained.

Another US Congressman, Randy Fine, in a X post described the air strike as an amazing Christmas present by the US President, Donald Trump, to Nigerians.

“With Muslim terrorists attacking Christians in Nigeria, Syria, and even Europe simply for refusing to submit to Islam, the President is showing that we will no longer tolerate these barbarians,” he wrote.

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, confirmed that the government was aware and approved the US air strike on the terrorists camp in Sokoto.
