One-time governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Murtala Yakubu Ajaka on Wednesday, 13 of May 2023, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Kogi State Ahmad Usman Ododo, reiterating the importance of unity among the people of Kogi State.
Ajaka further made a direct declaration of interest, emphasising his readiness to support the Governor and also the party chieftain who also doubles as the President of the Country.
He stated that while his 2023 ambition might be welcomed by everyone especially his senatorial district, his quest to switch parties was born out of intense consultations with critical stakeholders, while also vowing to continue in the interest of peace, unity and progress of his district and Kogi State in General.
Ajaka highlighted that the visit to Governor Ododo was an offshoot of his previous meeting with former Governor Yahaya Bello as part of efforts to build a stronger political understanding and foster unity across the state.
Ajaka described Governor Ododo as a longstanding ally, emphasising that disagreements are natural in politics but should ultimately give way to common understanding and shared goals.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting policies and programmes that would enhance development and promote the overall interest of Kogi State and its people.
