Nigerian socialite and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, has reportedly lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the House of Representatives seat representing Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, had in recent months openly declared his intention to venture fully into politics under the platform of the APC. His political ambition generated widespread reactions across the South-East and on social media.
The nightlife entrepreneur and coordinator of the South-East City Boy Movement had earlier purchased the APC nomination and expression of interest forms to contest for the federal constituency seat. He said his ambition was driven by a desire to contribute to youth empowerment and grassroots development in the region.
However, his political move sparked mixed reactions among constituents and political stakeholders. While supporters pointed to his popularity and philanthropic activities as strengths, critics questioned his political experience and readiness for legislative responsibilities.
The APC primary election, conducted today May 16th as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, eventually saw Cubana Chief Priest fail to secure the party’s ticket for the constituency.
Unconfirmed reports claim that he lost to the incumbent lawmaker, Moore Nwachukwu Omeogo. More details to follow.
