Chelsea have appointed former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso as their new manager, with the deal now complete.
The club has reached full agreement with Alonso on a four-year contract. The Spaniard is expected to travel to London next week to finalise the signing and be officially unveiled at Stamford Bridge.
The appointment brings to an end weeks of speculation surrounding Chelsea’s managerial vacancy.

“Here we go! Chelsea appoint Xabi Alonso as their new manager, deal done,” confirmed the announcement, adding that the move to Stamford Bridge is now a “done deal.”
Alonso, widely regarded as one of the brightest young coaches in European football, will take charge of the Blues with immediate effect once formalities are completed.
Alonso’s arrival marks a significant statement of intent from Chelsea as they look to rebuild and challenge for major honours under the guidance of the 43-year-old tactician, who has earned high praise for his work in recent seasons.
