Atiku Abubakar Declares Winner Of Edo ADC Presidential Primary

Chairman, Electoral Committee, Returning Officer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Mabel Adinkwu has declared former vice president Atiku Abubakar winner of the presidential primary conducted in Edo State.

She declared him in Benin while reeling out the results of the presidential primary conducted in the state.

Dr. Adinkwu said that the party in the state had a total of 32,263 register voters

Adinkwu said Abubakar scored a total votes of 17,729 against his closest rival, Rotimi Ameachi, former governor of Rivers State who polled 10,116.

She added that, Atiku, having garnered the highest votes cast, was declared winner of the presidential primary.

According to her,”His eyxcellency Atiku Abubakar scored a total of 17,729 votes. His Excellency Rotimi Ameachi Chibuike scored a total of 10,116 votes.

“Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen scored a total of 1,906 votes. His Excellency Atiku Abubakar having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner of the Edo State Presidential primaries”.

Adinkwu who described the process as peaceful, free, fair and credible, commended all officials present for ensuring that the process was orderly.

For the deputy state chairman of the party, Mr. Sylvester Ewanehi, he commended those who participated in the contest, stressing that there was neither victor nor vanquished rather they should see themselves as both winners.

He further lauded the transparency of those who conducted the primary, noting that, they have done a great job.

“The members of the committee have done very well, just released results as it were.

“And we want to thank them for a job well done throughout the period. And we discovered the result that were released were a fair result”, he said.
