AC Milan have reportedly opened talks with Mauricio Pochettino as the Serie A giants continue their search for a new manager following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri.
According to a BBC Sport report published on Friday, May 29, 2026, Milan are considering the former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss as a long-term option for the club’s rebuilding project.
Pochettino is currently in charge of the United States men’s national team and is preparing the side for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Although the Argentine coach remains focused on the World Cup campaign, Milan are believed to be interested in appointing him after the expiration of his contract with U.S. Soccer following the tournament.
The 54-year-old has not managed at club level since leaving Chelsea at the end of the 2023/24 season.
During his only campaign at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino guided Chelsea to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and also reached the Carabao Cup final.
Before his stint in England, he spent 18 months at Paris Saint-Germain, where he won the Ligue 1 title and the French Cup.
Pochettino also enjoyed a successful spell at Tottenham Hotspur, leading the North London club to the UEFA Champions League final in 2019 after more than five years in charge.
His managerial career has also included spells with Southampton and Espanyol, while he earned 20 caps for Argentina during his playing career as a defender.
Milan decided to part ways with Allegri after the club failed to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The Rossoneri finished fifth in Serie A following a 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari on the final day of the season.
Despite securing a place in the UEFA Europa League, Milan officials reportedly considered the campaign disappointing after missing out on Europe’s elite competition for the second straight year.
