Bob-Manuel Udokwu Explains Long Absence From Social Media, Criticises Online Culture

Veteran Nollywood actor Bob-Manuel Udokwu has opened up about his limited presence on social media, saying he intentionally chose to keep a low profile because of the nature of online discussions.

In a message shared with his followers, the actor expressed concern over the kind of content that frequently dominates social media conversations in Nigeria. According to him, many trending topics fail to address the real challenges facing ordinary citizens despite attracting widespread attention.

Udokwu noted that countless hours are spent debating issues that offer little value to people dealing with everyday economic and social difficulties. He argued that such conversations often consume both time and internet resources without providing meaningful solutions.

The filmmaker also pointed to the growing culture of insults, trolling, and personal attacks across digital platforms. He described the online environment as increasingly hostile, making it less appealing for constructive engagement.

Reflecting on his decision to remain mostly silent online, the actor said he has no regrets about observing events from a distance while concentrating on his professional responsibilities and creative work.

Despite his reservations, Udokwu revealed that requests from fans have encouraged him to reconsider his approach. He hinted that he intends to become more active on social media in the future and engage more directly with supporters.

The actor invited his followers to share their thoughts on the matter, signaling a possible new chapter of increased interaction with his audience after years of limited online activity.
