Egypt have unveiled their final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with captain Mohamed Salah set to spearhead the nation’s campaign in North America.
Head coach Hossam Hassan named a largely expected squad but included one notable surprise in teenage forward Hamza Abdel Karim, who has earned a place among the team’s attacking options.
The 18-year-old striker, currently gaining experience with Barcelona Atlètic after leaving Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly on loan, is regarded as one of the country’s most promising young talents.
Salah, who continues to play a key role for Liverpool, will once again be relied upon to provide leadership and creativity as Egypt seek a successful run at the tournament.
Joining him in attack is Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, who has enjoyed a productive season at club level and is expected to play a major role in Egypt’s offensive plans.
The Pharaohs will begin their World Cup journey with a group-stage clash against Belgium on June 15 in Seattle. They will also face New Zealand and Iran as they attempt to secure a place in the knockout stages.
Before the tournament begins, Egypt are scheduled to play a final warm-up match against Brazil on June 6, giving the coaching staff an opportunity to fine-tune preparations.
The squad features a blend of experienced internationals and emerging talents. Veteran goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy headlines the goalkeeping department, while defenders Mohamed Abdelmonem, Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Fattouh, and Rami Rabia provide experience at the back.
In midfield, Hassan has selected several established names, including Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet,” Emam Ashour, Marwan Attia, Ibrahim Adel, and Ahmed Mostafa “Zizo,” alongside Salah.
With a balanced squad combining youth and experience, Egypt will be hoping to make a strong impression on football’s biggest stage and challenge for a place among the tournament’s top teams.
