Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have rescued two individuals trapped inside a commercial vehicle following a road accident in the Ogudu-Alapere area of Lagos.
The incident occurred along the Motorway heading toward the Toll Gate and involved a commercial Volkswagen bus and a heavy-duty articulated truck.
According to information released by the agency, the collision caused the commercial bus to overturn, leaving both the driver and a passenger trapped inside the damaged vehicle. The accident also disrupted traffic flow along the busy corridor.
LASTMA personnel who were carrying out routine patrol duties in the area reportedly arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and immediately commenced rescue operations.
Working alongside other emergency response agencies, the officers successfully freed the trapped occupants and transferred them to medical personnel for urgent treatment.
The agency said the operation reflects its ongoing commitment to protecting lives, responding swiftly to emergencies, and maintaining safety on Lagos roads.
To prevent additional incidents, officials secured the accident scene while police officers assisted with crowd control and security throughout the rescue effort.
Traffic management teams also removed the damaged vehicles from the roadway and implemented diversion measures to reduce congestion and restore normal traffic movement.
Commending the response team, LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki praised the professionalism and dedication displayed during the operation.
He also advised motorists, particularly commercial and heavy-duty vehicle operators, to prioritise safety by observing traffic regulations and adopting defensive driving habits.
Bakare-Oki stressed that road safety requires the cooperation of all users and urged drivers to remain patient, alert, and responsible while travelling on highways and major roads across the state.
Authorities continue to encourage compliance with traffic laws as part of efforts to reduce accidents and improve safety for commuters in Lagos.
