Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has warned those behind the sponsorship of insecurity across the country to stop undermining peace and stability, urging them to give the Presidency the needed space to focus on governance and delivering democratic dividends to Nigerians.
He made the appeal during the flag off of the Local Government Councils elections in the Edo South senatorial district.
Governor Okpebholo said insecurity has suddenly increased in the country alleging that they have been orchestrated to tarnish the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
Okpebholo said promoting insecurity will not guarantee them the house of senate, house of representatives or the presidency as there is no vacancy in Aso Rock.
“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. They can even kidnap all of us, yes, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock. What is happening today, is the hands of the opposition.
“They have failed. Have they not failed? Is it by kidnapping children? Then, who are you going to govern? There will be nobody for you to govern. So let them give us the peace so that we can rule very well”, Okpebholo said.
He further called for the unconditional release of the children kidnapped.
He said the president has done more for the country than every other presidents that have ruled the country, stressing that the impact of the removal of the fuel subsidy has been seen and felt by the various projects that have dotted the state.
While commending those who scaled through the party’s primary to emerge candidates to contest in the forthcoming councils elections, said that their victories would signaled the possibility of the 2.5 million votes premised to president Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking also, the party’s chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the only viable party in the state.
He urged the candidates for the councils elections to take the messages of the governor’s developmental strides to the nooks and crannies of the state just as he urged them to replicate same in their various local government areas.
