‘That’s Hopelessness’ — Peter Obi Slams Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly criticised President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, branding it a failure that has delivered only “renewed hopelessness” to Nigerians.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Obi rejected any comparison between his vision of rebuilding the economy through production and the current administration’s policies.

“No, no. That’s renewed hopelessness. It’s not working,” Obi said when asked whether his approach resembled the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The former Anambra State governor argued that Tinubu’s policies have failed to inspire confidence or improve the lives of ordinary citizens. He insisted that what Nigerians need is not political messaging but visible, practical progress.

“The kind of hope I’ll bring is real hope — tangible hope that people will see and feel,” he added.

Obi maintained that if elected president, he would deliver measurable results rather than slogans, positioning his platform as a clear alternative to the present government’s economic direction.
