Court Remands AAC Presidential Aspirant Sowore In Kuje Prison Until June 24

Lucky Obukohwo Reporting

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has ordered the remand of African Action Congress (AAC) presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing of his application to restore his bail.

Justice Mohammed Umar ruled that Sowore should remain in custody until June 24, when the court will consider his request to set aside the order revoking his bail.

Recall that the judge had earlier, on June 16, withdrawn the activist’s bail after he failed to appear before the court for the continuation of his trial, paving the way for his remand in prison custody.

In his ruling on an oral application made by counsel to the Department of State Services (DSS), Akinkolu Kehinde, SAN, Justice Umar also issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

The DSS is prosecuting Sowore for allegedly making false claims against President Bola Tinubu by referring to him as “a criminal” in a post he made on his X and Facebook accounts.
