Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Ronald Araújo on loan, with the transfer expected to be completed this weekend.
The 27-year-old Uruguay international is set to join the Reds on a straight loan deal, bringing valuable experience, physicality and defensive quality to Arne Slot’s squad.
Araújo recently reaffirmed his commitment to Barcelona, having renewed his contract with the Catalan club last year and extended his stay at Camp Nou until 2031.
The move to Anfield would now see the highly-rated centre-back temporarily leave Barcelona to take on a new challenge in the Premier League.
However, the Uruguay international endured a difficult campaign last season and was subsequently granted an extended leave from the team.
Liverpool are now set to provide Araujo with a fresh opportunity as he looks to regain his form and establish himself at the Premier League club.
Recall that Araújo joined Barcelona from Uruguayan club Boston River in 2018 before being promoted to the first team a year later in 2019.
