Lucky Obukohwo Reporting
Troops of Sector II of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a suspected logistics supplier to terrorist groups and recovered 150 pairs of combat boots along with other tactical items in Zamfara State.
According to the military, the suspect was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted on Wednesday along the Sokoto-Gusau Road. He was travelling in a Honda Civic car when troops intercepted the vehicle and discovered a cache of military-related items concealed inside.
The recovered items, including the 150 pairs of combat boots and other tactical equipment, are believed to have been intended for terrorist groups operating in the region. The suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue.
“Items recovered from the suspect included 150 pairs of combat boots, three jackknives, three electric shockers, a tear gas canister, a military beret and a belt.
“Troops also recovered two Android mobile phones, an iPad and a digital wristwatch believed to be of intelligence value,” it said.
The military described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in its ongoing campaign to dismantle the logistics and supply networks sustaining terrorist and bandit activities across the North-West.
It said disrupting the flow of equipment and supplies to criminal groups remains crucial to degrading their operational capabilities and preventing future attacks.
According to the report, the suspect is currently in military custody and is undergoing further investigation, while the recovered items have been secured as exhibits.
The Army noted that the operation highlights the effectiveness of the intensified stop-and-search operations under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and access to operational resources.
It reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to maintaining sustained pressure on terrorist groups and their collaborators in order to restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and across the North-West region
