CALABAR: The Cross River State Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation Development has rescheduled its planned coffee training workshop for farmers and stakeholders in the Southern Senatorial District, citing a national event earlier fixed to hold in Calabar.
The training, initially scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026, will now take place on Monday, June 29, 2026, by 10am.
In a notice signed by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation Development, Hon. Johnson Andiambey Ebokpo, the Ministry informed prospective coffee farmers, extension officers and other stakeholders of the adjustment, while assuring them of its commitment to strengthening agricultural development in the state.
The Commissioner said the change was necessary because of a national engagement taking place in Calabar on the original date.
“This is to inform all prospective coffee farmers, extension officers, and other stakeholders within the Southern Senatorial District that the Coffee Training Workshop has been rescheduled,” Ebokpo stated.
He explained that the Ministry regretted any inconvenience caused by the adjustment and appreciated participants for their understanding and cooperation.
The rescheduled training is part of government’s efforts to build the capacity of farmers and promote coffee production as a viable cash crop in the region.
The programme is expected to expose participants to improved farming techniques, extension support and better approaches to increasing productivity in coffee cultivation.
Agricultural stakeholders believe that strengthening farmers’ knowledge and access to modern practices could contribute to improved livelihoods, job creation and diversification of the state’s agricultural economy.
The Ministry urged all registered participants and interested stakeholders to take note of the new date and time to ensure full participation in the capacity-building exercise.
