The Accord Party has formally cleared Osun State Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, to contest as the party’s sole aspirant in the 2026 governorship primary scheduled to hold today in Osogbo, the state capital.
Announcing the development, Elder Ibe Thankgod, Chairman of the Screening Committee and National Organising Secretary of the party, confirmed that Governor Adeleke successfully met all stipulated requirements for nomination. He noted that the committee had completed the necessary documentation and proceeded to issue the governor a certificate of clearance, describing him as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant.”
Other members of the screening panel include Abdurahaman Muhammed, Abdulahi Sani Muhammed, and Mrs. Awogbade Rachael.
Governor Adeleke’s clearance comes barely weeks after his dramatic exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and subsequent defection to the Accord Party. With his new political alignment, the governor is now poised to seek re-election under the Accord flag ahead of the August 2026 Osun governorship election.
