Two persons, 79- year-old Paul Idu and 47-year-old Elizabeth Amos Agbudu have been killed and another, 10-year- old Master Ekene Ukwo declared missing as Ezza warriors invaded the quiet community of Igede village in the Akparata area of Effium, in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Recall that early Sunday morning, two people were beheaded in Ikachi village in the community, seven people were reportedly abducted with houses torched by the warriors during their invasion of the village that Sunday morning.

President General, Effium Autonomous Community, Dr. James Agena, said that the warlords invaded the community by 12:20am in the morning, killed two people, kidnapped one, burnt three houses and left many injured.

He noted that the latest incident was the third in the series of coordinated attacks on Effium natives by suspected warriors.

“Your Excellency Sir, once again, Ezza warriors, this morning, at about 12:20am, attacked Igede village in the Akparata area of Effium, killed and beheaded 70-year-old man, Mr Paul Idu, and 47-year-old woman, Mrs Elizabeth Amos Agbudu, while the whereabouts of 10-year- old Master Ekene Ukwo is still unknown, coupled with the burning down of three houses by these evil men.

“This latest attack is the third in a series of coordinated attacks on Effium natives by Ezza warriors within a space of one week. However, to our chagrin, the government has not issued any official statement condemning these incessant attacks on Effium people.

“Once again, we call on the government of Ebonyi State, the security agencies and, indeed, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to protect the peace loving Effium natives.

“We desire/deserve peace in our ancestral home. The Ebonyi State government should note that the agenda of the Ezza people is to derail the peace process and continue in their evil ethnic cleansing agenda”, Agena said.

The Ebonyi State Police command Public Relations Officer, DSP Ukandu Joshua, confirmed the attack.

He emphasized that that there were military and mobile police units stationed in the community to protect the lives and property of the people in the community.
