The Deji’s Palace has announced that some markets and roads will be closed for seven days, starting from today, September 24, to September 30.
The road leading to the palace will be closed to commuters, and drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
Additionally, some sections of the Oja Oba market will also be closed during this period, as part of the customs and traditions of Akure. Market women and buyers should take note of this closure and plan accordingly.
The reason for these closures is the annual leave of Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure. During this time, the royal father will be praying for peace, prosperity, and progress of Akure Kingdom, Ondo State, and the country at large.
As a side note, drumming is also prohibited in Akure for the next seven days, as a sign of respect during the monarch’s annual leave .
Residents and visitors are encouraged to comply with these directives and pray for the well-being of the land.
