Lucky Obukohwo Reporting
Armed robbers have reportedly robbed and killed a female trader in Umudioka Osisioma in Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The deceased, Mrs Chinonso Onyeukwu, was said to have been shot at close range, when she resisted the armed robbers from making away with her hand bag containing the money she made from sale of building materials in her husband’s shop.
Mrs. Onyeukwu was said to have died at a private clinic where she was taken to for treatment.
According to an eyewitness account, the armed robbers had come to the community market, in Osisioma, looking for her husband, Mr Onyeukwu, who actually, was a building materials dealer, but he was not around, and then resorted to snatching the handbag of his wife, Chinonso now deceased.
It was learnt that late Chinonso, not knowing that the armed robbers had a gun, she resisted and dragged the bag from being taken away from her.
This eventually angered one of the robbers who shot her and made away with her bag containing money.
However, efforts to get the comments from the Abia State Police Command image maker, ASP Maureen Chinaka, were unsuccessful, but a senior police source in Osisioma Division who preferred anonymity, said a complaint had been lodged on the killing.
