The Nigerian Army troops, alongside local vigilantes and community defense groups under Operation FANSAN YANMA, have destroyed a notorious bandit stronghold named “Dabar Dan Dari Biyar” in the Sakkarawa Forest, western Sabon Birnin, Sokoto State. The raid, which occurred on February 17, 2025, resulted in the death of several bandits, although some, including their leader, managed to escape after sustaining heavy casualties.

Truth Live News learnt that intelligence sources confirmed Zagazola Makama, a West African Security Watchdog and Analyst that the operation was a success, with one rescued survivor recounting the harsh realities of his two-month captivity at the Gwali Gwali camp under the control of bandit leader Kachalla Dan Dari Biyar.

The survivor disclosed critical details about the bandits’ plans, revealing, “The bandits had planned to deliver a ransom of two million naira alongside a motorcycle to Boko Haram fighters this coming Thursday in exchange for hostages.”

He further described the hideout as well-structured, with seating arrangements and makeshift beds, suggesting it was a sophisticated base for criminal activities. The intelligence gathered from him has been passed to security agencies for further action.

Security forces are currently intensifying efforts to capture the remaining fugitives and ensure the area is completely cleared of bandit influence.
