A devastating turn of events unfolded in Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State, when suspected bandits abducted the wife of Nasiru Baro, a nursing mother of a six-month-old, as she delivered ransom for their kidnapped daughter.

Last week, Wasila Nasiru, the Baro’s daughter, was abducted, prompting the family to scramble for ransom. However, upon the mother’s arrival to secure Wasila’s release, the bandits took her too, claiming they no longer have the child.

Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist in northwest Nigeria, reported on X:

“Nasiru Baro’s wife went to deliver the ransom for their kidnapped daughter, Wasila Nasiru, that was abducted last week, but the bandits took her too and now claim they don’t have the child.”

“She left behind a 6-month-old baby, abandoned by the bandits in Wagini, Batsari LGA, Katsina State. Malam Nasiru Baro, struggling with poor health, is now left with 8 children and no way to support them since Wednesday morning.”

According to SaharaReporters, the family is facing unbearable hardship and is desperate for help. Contacts were made to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Sadeeq, for comments, but he had not responded to text messages, calls, and WhatsApp messages sent to him at the time of filing the report.
