The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has responded to a circulating memo approving a Renewed Hope Grant for Vulnerable Groups in four states, totaling N585,198,500.00.

The ministry expressed dismay at the misinformation being spread via social media.

The memo, addressed to the Accountant-General of the Federation, was said to follow due process involved in approving the grant, intended for the implementation of Grants to Vulnerable Groups (GVG) in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos States.

In a statement made available to Truth Live News, the spokesperson said It is crucial to highlight that the GVG initiative was initially launched in Kogi State, where beneficiaries testified to its impact.

Amidst these developments, the Honourable Minister, Dr. Betta Edu, faced baseless accusations from elements seeking to discredit her.
The ministry linked these attacks to her efforts in exposing a 44.8 Billion Naira Fraud in NSIPA, suggesting a sinister motive behind the attempts to tarnish her integrity.

The released statement deems these allegations as an “infantile blackmail doomed for evisceration” and urges the public to focus on the factual aspects. The Renewed Hope Grant for Vulnerable Groups is a federal government social intervention scheme managed by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. This initiative, launched in various states, aims to uplift vulnerable communities.

Importantly, the ministry invited the public to recognize the Honourable Minister’s commitment to her duties. In the five months since assuming office, Dr. Betta Edu has diligently visited numerous states, including Borno, Zamfara, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Nasarawa, FCT, Lagos, and Cross River. These visits emphasize her dedication to delivering on her mandate and dispel any notions of bias or lack of focus.

The press release was signed by Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair (ANIPR), the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Honourable Minister.

However, netizens have called the press release an attempt to cover up because The press release failed to however explain why that sum of money was paid into a personal account of a director
