The Borno State Government in a significant move towards normalcy has welcomed 1,542 indigenes of Borno State, who had fled to Chad due to insurgency, have returned to Nigeria through a voluntary repatriation program.

Security sources confirmed that the second batch of returnees, consisting of 92 households, reached Banki town in Bama Local Government Area on February 16 at around 4:00 p.m.

Upon their arrival, the returnees underwent profiling and have been temporarily housed at the Gubio IDP Camp in Maiduguri. They are awaiting arrangements to be resettled in their original communities.

This repatriation exercise marks a part of the concerted efforts by the Borno State Government and other involved parties to ensure the safe and dignified return of those displaced by the long-standing conflict.
