
In the third edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT), Edo Queens FC extended their remarkable unbeaten streak with a 2-1 victory over Remo Stars Ladies, hailing from Ogun State. The thrilling match took place at the UNIBEN Sports Complex in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.
Remo Stars Ladies made an impressive start to the game, with Arubo Oluwaseyi netting an early goal in the 15th minute, granting them a 1-0 lead over Edo Queens. However, Edo Queens’ Abideen Suliat swiftly responded with an equalizer in the 41st minute, just moments before the halftime whistle.
As the second half unfolded, Edo Queens intensified their offensive efforts against the Ogun State-based team. Their persistence ultimately paid off when they were awarded a penalty kick, which was expertly converted by Suliat Abideen in the 90th minute of the game.
Esther Moses of Edo Queens was rightfully acknowledged as the Most Valuable Player of the match.
Following the match, the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, expressed her satisfaction with the high-quality play exhibited by both teams. Abideen Suliat, who scored both goals for Edo Queens, displayed her confidence and belief that her team is on the path to securing the championship.
