In a landmark ruling today, the Appeal Court has upheld the triumph of Hon. Joshua Obika, who represents the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency. The court’s decision solidifies Obika Chinedu’s status as the elected Member of the House of Representatives for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Professor Ukertor Gabriel, the Collation and Returning Officer for Bwari/AMAC Federal Constituency, had declared that Obika Chinedu secured a commanding lead with 201,308 votes out of the 326,463 total votes cast, securing a decisive victory.

Chinedu’s main contender, Micah Jiba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), trailed behind with 58,809 votes. Suleiman Ribadu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered 44,808 votes, while Obute Ann of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) secured 3,289 votes.

The electoral process witnessed substantial participation, with 340,400 accredited voters out of the 1,127,794 registered voters. Out of the cast votes, 322,065 were deemed valid, while 4,398 were rejected. The meticulous breakdown provided by the returning officer, Professor Gabriel, offers a comprehensive overview of the constituency’s democratic engagement.

This triumph not only reaffirms Chinedu’s political standing but also brings a wave of positive news for the “obedient” movement. At 53 years old, Hon. Joshua Obika holds the position of vice chairman in the Legislative Library, Research, and Documentation house committee. His victory reflects a significant mandate from the constituents, emphasizing their trust and confidence in his leadership.
