The ASUU national permitted the State Chapter to embark to further press in their demand following the State government’s rebuttal of claims that it is not owing workers salaries in the state.
Notable of their reasons for the industrial strike action after their meeting is due to the government’s failure to pay workers their earned academic allowances, promotion arrears, fractional payment of salaries to staff as well as gratuity scheme.
The Taraba State University ASUU Chairman, Mr. Samuel Shitaa added that other reasons for the strike action includes non-implementation of agreements and perimeter fencing of the institution.
In reaction to the strike action, the State government via the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Edward Baraya in a telephone interview with Channels Television said the union has not revealed their action to the state government.
He wondered why ASUU would take such a decision when the present government is doing everything possible to address the issue before leaving office.
