Brazil manager, Adenor Leonardo Bacchi popularly known as Tite has resigned his role as the head coach of the Brazilian national team after a shocking defeat to Croatia which ended their World Cup run at the quarter-final level.
The five-time world champions were stunned by Croatia with a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout win at the Education City Stadium to register their place in the World Cup semi-finals as the tournament favourites were crashed out after the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Brazil’s Marquinhos and Rodrygo handed their team the defeat after faiking to convert their spot-kicks, while Nikola Vlasic, Lovro Majer, Luka Modric and Orsic completed a perfect set of spot-kicks, to push Croatia into the semi finals.
Tite replaced Dunga in 2016 and has had an almost seven years spell as the Brazilian national team head coach.
According to Skysports, he had said in February it was always his intention to stand down after this tournament.
He said: “As I said, my cycle is over. I said it over a year and a half ago. I keep to my word. We shouldn’t make a drama out of it as I said this one and half years ago. There are other great professionals that can replace me. There could be elements to analyse but the cycle is over.”
