In a significant political development, Hon. Sylvanus Igbogbo, a former council chairman of Igueben Local Government Area (LGA) and a prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 10 (Ekpon), has defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Igbogbo, who was among the top five leaders in the APC’s LGA leadership structure, announced his resignation from the ruling party in a letter to his ward Chairman. His defection is part of a recent trend of notable politicians leaving the APC.

This move is seen as a significant boost for the PDP’s prospects in the upcoming elections, as many voters in the region are growing increasingly dissatisfied with the APC’s performance.

The letter reads: “I am writing to inform you of my resignation of membership from all progressive Congress (APC).

“I appreciate the support and collaboration of of all the party members over the years.

“Thank you for your understanding.”
