Former President John Dramani Mahama has staged a remarkable political comeback, winning Ghana’s presidential election. Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the main contender from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), conceded defeat in a press conference on Sunday, acknowledging Mahama’s decisive victory and the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) success in the parliamentary election.

Truth Live News gathered that the president said in his speech.

“I am making this concession speech before the official announcement by the Electoral Commission to avoid further tension and preserve the peace of our country,” Bawumia stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining Ghana’s reputation for democracy and stability.

Over 18 million registered voters participated in the 2024 elections, with voting held at 40,648 polling stations nationwide. While final results are still being collated, Bawumia’s early concession shows Ghana’s commitment to peaceful transitions of power.

Stay tuned for official confirmation and further updates on this historic election.
