Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, snubbed an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invitation on Wednesday regarding the alleged laundering of N37.1bn during her tenure. The focus of the investigation revolves around a contractor, James Okwete.

Truth Live News can confirm that Umar-Farouq’s absence left interrogators waiting for over eight hours without official communication. The interrogation team concluded their work at 6 pm, expressing certainty that the former minister wouldn’t appear.

The source stated, “We just closed from work now because she didn’t show up today, and it’s 6 pm already. It’s certain that she’s never going to show up today.”

The backdrop to the investigation involves Umar-Farouq’s controversial claim of providing meals to primary school pupils during the nationwide Covid lockdown. This has sparked public outcry, with many questioning the sincerity of the president’s anti-corruption efforts.

The situation raises concerns about accountability and transparency in the use of public funds, especially amid allegations of mismanagement during the former minister’s term. The failure to attend the EFCC probe adds to the mounting pressure for a thorough investigation into the alleged financial misconduct.

Critics argue that this case highlights the need for a robust anti-corruption framework, emphasizing the importance of holding public officials accountable for their actions. As the controversy deepens, citizens are closely watching developments, expecting decisive action to uphold integrity in governance.
