Manchester United have sacked head coach Ruben Amorim after just 14 months in charge.
The decision comes following a breakdown in relations with the club’s hierarchy, exacerbated by Amorim’s public frustrations over transfer policy and tactical support during the January window. His final match was Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Leeds United, leaving the team in sixth place.
The club released a statement acknowledging the change was made “reluctantly” to give the team the best chance of a strong finish this season. Former midfielder Darren Fletcher is expected to take interim charge.
Amorim, who arrived from Sporting CP in November 2024, oversaw a challenging period including the club’s worst-ever Premier League finish last season.
