BeninCity , Edo state.
Former Edo Deputy Governor, Chief Lucky Imasuen, has decided to step back from the gubernatorial race within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Truth Live News gathered that Imasuen’s withdrawal, announced alongside Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s, comes just ahead of the party’s direct primary election. Both Imasuen and Ize-Iyamu were among the 12 aspirants who had been screened and cleared by a committee appointed by the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Imasuen’s withdrawal letter, directed to his supporters, cited the imperative of promoting peace and unity within the party as the driving factor behind his decision. He acknowledged the preference expressed by the NWC for zoning the governorship position to the Edo Central Senatorial District and deemed it wise to align with the party’s decision in this regard.
Expressing gratitude for the unwavering support he has received throughout his campaign, Imasuen assured his supporters of his continued commitment to the party’s objectives. He emphasized the significance of unity within the APC and conveyed his readiness to back the eventual candidate emerging from the primary election.
