BREAKING: Chelsea Star Winger, Mykhailo Mudryk Free to Play After Four-year Ban Lifted

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is free to resume his career with immediate effect after the four-year doping ban imposed on him was rescinded following a resolution of anti-doping proceedings.

The 25-year-old Ukraine international, who has not played competitively since November 2024, announced the news in a personal statement. “After a long battle, the four-year ban that was imposed on me has been rescinded and I am free to resume my career with immediate effect,” Mudryk said. “I am grateful that this process has reached a conclusion, that I have been cleared to return to football and that I can now look ahead to my future. This has been the most difficult period of my career.”

Mudryk has consistently maintained his innocence regarding intentional use of a banned substance. “As I have always maintained from the outset of this case, I have never knowingly or intentionally taken any banned substance. My commitment to competing fairly and representing my club and country with professionalism and integrity has always been important to me.”

The Football Association confirmed that proceedings were resolved with the agreement of the World Anti-Doping Agency. Mudryk accepted anti-doping rule violations linked to a low concentration of meldonium detected in an out-of-competition test, but the period of ineligibility was limited to time already served. Changes to WADA technical standards meant that the same sample concentration would not trigger a positive finding under current rules.

Mudryk thanked his family, friends, legal team, Chelsea FC, teammates and supporters for their unwavering support. “My focus now is on returning to football, working hard every day, and making a positive contribution on the pitch. Thank you to everyone who continued to believe in me. I look forward to the next chapter of my career.”

Chelsea welcomed the outcome, noting the scientific developments that formed an important part of the context, and said the club looks forward to helping Mudryk return to full fitness and the squad.

The winger is expected to rejoin the team for pre-season preparations.
