The younger sister of former Minister of Power and Oyo State APC governorship aspirant, Bayo Adelabu, has been kidnapped alongside her twin children in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The abduction reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan South West Local Government Area.
Confirming the incident, one of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, disclosed that the victims were attacked while leaving their residence.
“Adelabu’s younger sister and her twins, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped this morning by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, Ibadan,” Awogboro said.
According to him, the family members were on their way to connect to the expressway when they were ambushed and taken away by the kidnappers.
The latest incident has heightened concerns over the growing wave of kidnappings in Oyo State.
It would be recalled that more than 40 teachers and students were abducted on May 15, 2026, during a coordinated attack on Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
Similarly, APC chieftain Wale Oriade was kidnapped in Ibadan in December 2025. The incident occurred around 7:06 p.m. at his office located within the PJ Square Shopping Complex near the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited station at Elewure along the Akala Expressway.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in a blue Nissan Micra and forcefully whisked Oriade away.
“The nature of the attack and the precision with which it was carried out caused deep concern within the community,” an eyewitness said.
Reacting to reports of the latest abduction, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the command was yet to independently verify the incident.
“I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on,” he said in a text message on Wednesday.
Security agencies are expected to launch efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
