Adamawa State Police command has confirmed the killing of one pastor, Emmanuel Ezeoikwe.
He was shot dead by suspected gunmen in Zinal village, Song Local Government Area of the state, with police confirming the recovery of AK-47 shells at the scene.
The attack was said to have happened in the early hours of Tuesday at the victim’s home.
According to the Adamawa State Police Command, the incident was reported at about 6:30am.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Suleiman Nguroje, said the gunmen stormed the village around 12:48 am and shot the pastor dead.
According to him, “On the 21st of April, 2026, at about 6:30 am, the Command received a report… that at about 12:48 am of the same date, suspected gunmen invaded the village and shot the victim.
“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives swiftly moved to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of the victim and rushed him to a hospital. He was, however, confirmed dead by a medical doctor,”
The Police image maker said that three empty AK-47 shells were recovered at the scene, while the remains of the deceased were deposited in a morgue for autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, has ordered a thorough investigation into the killing just he deployed tactical teams to track down the assailants.
He further appealed to members of the public to remain calm and provide credible information to assist ongoing efforts to apprehend those responsible.
