Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered N8 million paid as ransom in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The Joint Task Force disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by its Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out on Saturday, April 25, 2026, by troops deployed in Sector 9, Shendam.
It explained that the success followed the abduction of a female victim from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area on April 19, 2026.
The statement noted that “through rigorous intelligence gathering and interrogation of an arrested suspect who confessed to the crime, troops were able to identify the victim’s location at Padam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, where she was found and rescued.”
It added that the operation also led to the recovery of the N8 million ransom earlier paid by the victim’s family to the kidnappers.
Following her rescue, the victim was taken to the General Hospital, Shendam, for medical attention before being reunited with her family, while the recovered money was returned to her relatives.
The military said troops have sustained follow-up operations in the area, targeting the kidnappers’ hideouts in Qua’an Pan and Shendam local government areas with the aim of apprehending other members of the criminal syndicate.
The Joint Task Force commended residents for their cooperation and urged continued support through timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the area.
