Ekpoma in Esan West and Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Councils came alive on Thursday as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rolled its campaign train back into Esanland, stirring excitement among party faithful.

The rally in Ekpoma, held at the Egware Primary School open field, saw Governor Godwin Obaseki urging residents to make the Esan governorship agenda a reality by electing the best candidate in the race.

Obaseki emphasized the importance of electing a governor who truly understands the job, highlighting his support for Dr. Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie as the ideal candidates for governor and deputy governor, respectively. He charged attendees to spread the word and ensure a strong turnout for the PDP on September 21.

Collins Aigbogun, Chairman of Esan West, assured Obaseki that the local government is ready to deliver 98% of the votes to the PDP as a show of gratitude for the governor’s commitment to Esanland. Similarly, Hon. Marcus Onobun, representing Esan West, Esan Central, and Igueben Federal Constituency, rallied support for the Asue-Ogie ticket, describing the election as a clear choice.

At the rally, Dr. Asue Ighodalo underscored the need for continuity in Edo State, assuring the people that he would build upon the good work of the current administration to ensure a better life for all. He urged voters to turn out early on election day and to vigilantly protect their votes.

The PDP campaign continued in Irrua, where an enthusiastic crowd greeted the party’s candidates. In his address, Apst. Matthew Emiotemen declared that Esan Central is a stronghold for the PDP and vowed that the local government would decisively reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls.

Governor Obaseki, who commissioned the Uwessa-Ujagbhole-Irrua Road, reiterated the need for capable leadership to sustain the progress already made in Edo State. Dr. Ighodalo assured the people of Edo Central that he would address pressing issues, including water supply, as part of his administration’s agenda.

The rally also saw over 1,000 defectors from various parties, including former NNPP House of Assembly candidate Harrison Echie, join the PDP, further boosting the party’s momentum as election day approaches.
