During an interactive session with the GRA Youths in Benin City on Friday May 17th, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the forthcoming Edo State gubernatorial election, made a heartfelt vow to uphold and respect Edo State’s traditional institutions.
Ighodalo emphasized his huge respect for His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II.
Responding to a question from one of the youth about his plans for traditional institutions if elected governor, Dr. Ighodalo passionately declared, “Let me tell you something, I am a traditionalist fully. I totally believe in the sanctity of culture and tradition.
“My mother is a Princess of a Royal family, so I have royal lineage. There is nothing that can happen that I will not bow to tradition.
“In Benin here, the Oba is my father, the Oba is your father, and you know there are people who engage in mischief for political reasons and their own personal gain. But by God’s grace, we will not let mischief prevail.”
