As the Edo State Governorship Election Tribunal begins the substantive hearing of the petition filed by Dr. Asue Ighodalo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Team Asue Media Organisation (TAMO) has described the proceedings as a critical step in the pursuit of electoral justice for the people of Edo State and Nigeria.

The petition challenges the declaration of Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the recently concluded gubernatorial election.

In a statement issued on Monday in Benin City, TAMO’s spokesperson, Erhabor Emokpae, expressed confidence in the judiciary’s ability to uphold the truth. The group stated that the evidence to be presented would reveal the realities of the electoral process and restore the democratic mandate of the Edo electorate.

“We remain steadfast in our trust in the judicial process and our commitment to peaceful, constructive engagement throughout this tribunal,” the statement read, calling on supporters of democratic values to remain composed despite heightened emotions.

TAMO emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, urging the public to reject propaganda and any incitements to violence.

“This battle is not just about one election but about protecting the integrity of our democracy and safeguarding the rights of every Edo citizen,” the statement added.

The organization also reassured the public of its dedication to countering misinformation and providing timely updates as the tribunal progresses.
