Edo Train Attack: Police Arrests Two Traditional Rulers, Five Others In Police Net

Two traditional rulers and five other suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack on a train station located at Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State on 7th January, 2022.

Recall that Truth Live News had earlier reported the attack on the train station located at Igueben in Edo State, South South region of Nigeria, where not less than 20 passengers waiting to board were abducted.

This was revealed by the State government through its state Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, while briefing newsmen in Benin.

Chris Nehikhare, who did not disclose the names of the two traditional rulers, said the last two kidnap victims have been rescued from their abductors.

He disclosed that the seven arrested suspects are currently undergoing investigation at the state police command headquarters.

Reacting to the abduction of the train passengers, Governor Godwin Obaseki had faulted the Federal Government for not providing adequate security at the train station in spite of the Abuja- Kaduna train incident, where scores were killed and others kidnapped.

He also faulted the tradition rulers in the locality for not being vigilante enough.

The state government had earlier warned that it won’t spare any traditional rulers who habours criminal element in his domain.
