CROSS RIVER, CALABAR – The New York Tri-State (NNN) has launched an education support initiative to help indigent Efik secondary school students overcome financial barriers that could prevent them from sitting for promotional examinations.

Tagged “Help a Child, Brighter Future: Stay in School 2026 Project,” the initiative will assist students at risk of missing examinations because they cannot afford the required fees.

Organisers said the project reflects NNN’s commitment to advancing the education of disadvantaged students through examination-fee assistance and other forms of educational support.

The project scheduled for October 7, 2026, held at Government Secondary School Creek Town and Akpabuyo LGA.

At a separate scholarship presentation, the donor said financial difficulties, particularly the payment of school fees, could prevent students from pursuing their academic goals.

“We are pleased to support these students with scholarships to help them continue their education through their first and second years at the university,” the donor said.

The donor urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, work hard and make the association proud.

Ms. Caroline Bassey Umo represented the association’s president, Ma. Antigha Ikejiofor, at the presentation.

The beneficiaries were congratulated and encouraged to remain focused, confirm any outstanding registration requirements and cover personal expenses not included in the support.

Organisers said the initiative aims to reduce financial barriers to education and give disadvantaged students a better opportunity to continue their studies.

Individuals, organisations and well-meaning donors willing to support NNN’s education initiatives and help disadvantaged students stay in school are encouraged to get involved.
