Street pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has explained why he walked out of the ring during his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha, insisting he was unfairly attacked during the bout.
Portable spoke in a video shared on his Instagram page on Saturday, August 1, 2026, hours after he was disqualified in the highly publicised contest held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The singer alleged that Okocha abandoned boxing for wrestling and claimed he was bitten during the fight.
Displaying injuries on his back and body in the video, Portable said, “They said he eats Molly. He didn’t see Molly anymore. So he ate my back.”
He further alleged that Okocha bit him during the contest.
“Man, he bit me. I landed a heavy hit on him,” he said.
Portable maintained that he had dominated the fight before the incident, insisting he landed more punches than his opponent.
“Normally, I beat him up. Man to man, one man is tougher than another. I dealt him a huge blow,” he said.
Explaining his decision to leave the ring, the singer said he no longer wished to participate in celebrity boxing fights, adding that his music career was worth more than the prize money.
“He bit me, number one. He choked my neck. Camera it. That’s why I say I don’t fight again. I’m big. I’m bigger than the money. I’m a star,” he said.
Portable also claimed he fulfilled his promise of landing 10 punches on Okocha.
Turning to his supporters, he added, “I wore one round cloth to the bout. I wanted to beat him in one round.”
The celebrity boxing rematch, tagged “Unfinished Business,” was held on Friday, July 31, 2026, as a sequel to the pair’s controversial first meeting, which Okocha had claimed was wrongly awarded in Portable’s favour.
The contest appeared evenly contested before it degenerated into a wrestling style scuffle, with the referee struggling to separate both fighters as security personnel and bodyguards intervened to restore order.
Portable later walked out of the ring before the end of the opening round and, although he eventually returned, officials disqualified him and awarded victory to Okocha.
The singer insisted he would not have engaged in the prolonged clinch if Okocha had not allegedly bitten him.
Before the fight, Portable had expressed hope of securing victory, saying he wanted to make himself and his family proud.
The defeat marked a reversal of fortunes for the singer, who won their first encounter and had confidently declared during the final weigh in that he remained the better fighter.
