At Goodison Park, Manchester United defeated an energized but inept Everton team 3-0 to move into the top six of the Premier League thanks to a stunning goal of the season contender from Alejandro Garnacho.
Within three minutes of Diogo Dalot’s cross, the youthful Argentina winger scored his first goal of the season in the English Premier League.
With his back to goal, he met the ball with an incredible overhead kick that spun past England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford from about 14 yards out.
Earlier in the week, disgruntled Everton supporters demonstrated against the club’s 10-point punishment imposed by an independent tribunal for violating financial regulations. However, their protests were muted by the daring genius of Garnacho’s incredible goal.
Though it undoubtedly most immediately evoked memories of Wayne Rooney’s bicycle kick attempt for United against Manchester City in 2011, it is hard to envisage a greater finish since the Premier League’s establishment in the current era in 1992.
The first half was undoubtedly the finest for Sean Dyche’s Everton, as the outstanding Kobbie Mainoo had to clear off his line to keep Dwight McNeil from scoring an equalizer on his Premier League debut for United.
They suffered greatly as a result of their carelessness. Marcus Rashford scored a penalty kick into the net on minute 56, following Ashley Young’s VAR-reviewed foul on Anthony Martial. Martial then chipped in the game-winning third goal over Pickford on minute 75, following a ball from Bruno Fernandes.
With a point advantage over Newcastle, United secures their largest victory of the year and moves up to sixth place in the rankings, while relegation-threatened Everton stay in second place with four points.
